Chilltonix was formed in early 2019 with the goal of exploring the possibilities of the trumpet trio ensemble. Together, Amsterdam students Ethan Chilton on trumpet, Josef Zeimetz on bass, and Luis Possollo on drums, are pushing the trio form in new directions. Without a chordal instrument, trumpet and bass provide the melodic interplay that dictates the harmony, and rhythm becomes the birthplace of musical dialogue and form. Together they perform original compositions inspired by their heroes; both the old masters like Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, and contemporary artists like Enemy, Avishai Cohen, and Kneebody. Chilltonix has only just begun searching for its voice, so there are many more things waiting to be discovered.
